Research into magazine advertisement

After looking at some metal-core magazines, and in particular the famous 'Kerrang!' magazine, it has given me some ideas as to what i should include for my chosen band and their magazine advertisement.

The image on the left is an example of 'Kerrang!' magazine, and it is clear to see that it includes multiple large titles showing the names of bands such as 'Guns N' Roses' and 'Slayer'. Also, there is a large image of a band member of the band Guns N' Roses, which further indicates the genre of the magazine.

In addition to this, multiple colours are included to make the magazine stand out in comparison to other examples, such as 'Q' magazine shown on the right, where the theme is a lot more toned down as it covers a different genre to metal-core.

After looking at other metal-core magazines, such as 'metal hammer', i have got an idea as to what advertisements are placed in this style of magazine. There are multiple adverts for met-al-core style clothing, as well as information about gigs and festivals where some metal-core bands will be performing.

I know now that for my magazine advertisement I will include a large picture of the band as the main focus point, like what 'Kerrang!' has done. I will also include a large title with the name of the band 'Fear The Unknown'  and will use a lot of colour in order for it to stand out, as I feel that this has been very effective for 'Kerrang!' magazine.
