I am aiming to emulate a similar style to this image above, but I will also look to include some text. I will be aiming to include some quotes from famous magazines and other artists promoting the band. I already have an idea of what image I will use for the magazine advertisement cover, but I still need to decide what font I should use for the text I will include. Preferably, I will be looking for a font which will relate to the metal-core genre in order to make the magazine article more genre specific, as shown in the metal-core example above.

Magazine advertisement plan
Further digipak planning
I am still looking for one more piece of text or image to include for the final slide of my digipak in order for this to be complete. I am debating whether to include a band synopsis, or whether to include another picture, perhaps of a watchtower in reference to the song. I will continue to look at other examples of metal-core digipaks for inspiration.

Digipak planning
This is how my digipak looks so far after using ideas from other metal-core digpak examples as a guide. I have decided to use a large shot of the band as the cover, as i have found this effective in other examples.
In addition to this, I have included a side showing the lyrics to the song (The Watchtower), as I also think that the lyrics are very effective in showing the metal-core genre. This also gives the listener to opportunity to view the lyrics whilst listening to the track in order to learn the words.
I have also decided to include a side again showing the members of the band, but I have used photoshop in order to make a 'stained glass' effect. I feel that this effect helps to make the band stand out compared to others.
I still have two sides left and will further research other metal-core examples to help me decide what to include.

Metal-core digipak examples
I have decided to analyse digipacks of the metal-core genre in order to help me decide what to include when i create one. This digipak has the name of the band 'CREMATORY' in capitals across the middle of the digipak, whilst in front of many symbolic images relatable to the metal-core genre.
These images include skulls, crosses and sharp knife-like objects which connotes the emotion of fear and death. I like the idea of having the name of the band Fear The Unknown shown clearly on the front cover of my digipak, however i do like the idea of showing the band members on the front cover, so i could merge these together.

This is another example of a metal-core bands digipak. This example is something which is very similar to what i am hoping to create for when i design my digipak.
I like this idea as it has the name of the band in block capitals across the bottom of the cover, and also has the members of the band as well. I would however like to include more light and colour in order to make my digipak stand out.

Research into magazine advertisement
After looking at some metal-core magazines, and in particular the famous 'Kerrang!' magazine, it has given me some ideas as to what i should include for my chosen band and their magazine advertisement.
The image on the left is an example of 'Kerrang!' magazine, and it is clear to see that it includes multiple large titles showing the names of bands such as 'Guns N' Roses' and 'Slayer'. Also, there is a large image of a band member of the band Guns N' Roses, which further indicates the genre of the magazine.
In addition to this, multiple colours are included to make the magazine stand out in comparison to other examples, such as 'Q' magazine shown on the right, where the theme is a lot more toned down as it covers a different genre to metal-core.

After looking at other metal-core magazines, such as 'metal hammer', i have got an idea as to what advertisements are placed in this style of magazine. There are multiple adverts for met-al-core style clothing, as well as information about gigs and festivals where some metal-core bands will be performing.
I know now that for my magazine advertisement I will include a large picture of the band as the main focus point, like what 'Kerrang!' has done. I will also include a large title with the name of the band 'Fear The Unknown' and will use a lot of colour in order for it to stand out, as I feel that this has been very effective for 'Kerrang!' magazine.

Survey Monkey questionnaire
We have created a survey on the website 'Survey Monkey' in order to get responses from our target audience and their reactions to our music video. We have asked questions such as 'what parts of the video did you enjoy?' and 'did the video reflect the genre of music?'.
This should hopefully give us an idea on whether we have provided a video which fans of this genre of music would enjoy which was an original target of ours. In addition to asking fans of the metal-core genre, we have also targeted fans of other genres to see how they felt about the video.

This is an example of some of the questions we will be asking to our audience. These three questions should allow us to se what the average age and gender is of our audience, as well as finding how often they listen to this genre of music.
Allow with single choice questions, we have also allowed the audience the chance to write their exact views on the video. This should give us more of an insight on the exact views of the audience, which we can then consider and perhaps change some parts of the video as an improvement.

Application to our thriller video
Descriptive - our thriller shows the view of the killer looking at one of our characters, who then follows them home.
Functional - in our thriller we emphasise the fear of being stalked\followed, this could be related to toadys media focusing on celebrities, as they too are stalked to a degree.
Neale - an underlying pattern we have shown throughout our trailer is the use of typical thriller conventions. We have a shot of running water, which is well known from the film 'pshyco', as well as using restricted lighting throughout to represent fear and the unknown.
Sarris - the main style of our thriller opening is the use of dim lighting throughout the thriller. This has been used to show a sense of fear and 'the unknown'. This would be a common occurrence if we were to create further thriller openings.
Clover - we haven't used a 'final girl' in our thriller opening, although this would be relevant as in the final scene we see the killer from the characters point of view whilst he is in bed. This matches the conventions of Clovers 'final girl' ideas.
Paradigms - the main paradigm of our thriller opening is the idea of being stalked and being unaware. This is a common theme in thriller films, as it challenges the audience into using their imagination to predict, in our case, where the killer could be.
