What is a digipack?

A digipack is a style of compact disc or packaging . It is often made up of heavy card , but other types of heavy or thick materials are also used.

Digipack often open up like books, however some open up to form shapes or patterns, as shown in the picture on the right. On one of the panels, a plastic tray will be fixed on top of it. This will hold the CD or DVD in place.

The digipack I have used for an example is a CD by the beastie boys, and when opened up, it shows the city of New York (the beastie boys home town).

Straight away this tells the person who has bought the CD a bit about the band, and in this case, it tells them that they are from the City of New York.
